Enter Into Your Closet
Maintaining your integrity in the music industry can be a challenging task. Yes, even within the gospel genre, integrity can unfortunately be a rare commodity. I speak to so many talented artists that make a few strides in their music ministry but keep themselves held back to a certain limit to not lose sight of the ministry within the artistry.
I will admit that I have even felt this way as well. My mom calls it fear of success. It’s a fear that if you begin to grow in your ministry and gain followers and a bigger audience that somehow you will veer away from God’s purpose for your being there in the first place. So, instead of reaching your full potential, you shrink down and stay in the safe confines of familiarity.

Does this sound like you?
If so, I want to encourage you that if God has called you to be an artist with a WIDE and FAR reach, you can TRUST that He will be with you every step of the way… if you want to be kept.
I used to hear the old mothers in my home church say all the time, “the Lord will keep you if you WANT to be kept.”
What I understand about that phrase now is that, as long as you remain submitted to the will of Christ, you can go across the world and back and still have your relationship with Him intact.
You see, you do not have to fear success as an artist if you remember how to enter into your closet.

Matthew 6:6 & 17-18 tell us that when we pray and fast to enter into our closet which is in secret and God who sees what’s done in secret will reward you openly. I once thought that this closet was a physical place, and while it can be, I have come to learn that the closet/secret place was a state of being that I can access any place any time because I serve The Most High who is omnipresent and omniscient.
I do not have to dumb down, settle, or hide under a bush because I am afraid of what temptations success or more visibility may bring me.
🙌🏾 I can be influential and holy. 🙌🏾 I can be successful and honor God. 🙌🏾 I can be impactful and integral.
I can be a good steward over the ministry Christ has entrusted me with, as long as I remain submitted to God’s will. Inside my secret place of prayer and fasting is a garden where I plant into my relationship with God. And while I plant in secret He will reward me openly, with achieving the goals I have set, serving the people He has called me to, and maintaining my faith and integrity in a sometimes ungodly industry. My prayer for you is that you enter into your closet often, planting seeds of prayer and fasting so that when you emerge you will be confident, fearless, and influential in whatever territory God sends you to. In Jesus Name, Amen.
